Ultrasound Department

For the convenience of our patients we have a nationally accredited Ultrasound Department located within our office facility. We have full-time certified ultrasound technicians available Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and you can often get your test performed at the time of your doctor visit.

 

 

 

Ultrasound Imaging at CSSA

Ultrasound procedures offered include:

  • Abdominal Ultrasound Screen to evaluate for abdominal pain or gallstones

  • Breast Ultrasound

  • Blood Clot or DVT screening

  • Evaluation of the cause of varicose & spider veins (Looking for the condition known as Venous Reflux or Insufficiency)

  • Abdominal Aneurysm Screening

  • Carotid Stenosis Screen (i.e.Screen for a condition that leads to strokes)

  • Screening for Peripheral Artery Disease (i.e. screen for poor circulation in the legs)

  • Segmental Pressure Testing, including exercise stress testing

  • Follow-up evaluation on angioplasty and stents

  • Vein mapping

  • Evaluation of Dialysis Devices

  • Evaluation of Leg Swelling

  • Evaluation for kidney artery stenosis (which can lead to hypertension or kidney failure)

Gary Clagett, RVT, RDMS, BS, RT

Gary began his imaging career in 1977 at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs . There he trained in Diagnostic Radiology and Special Procedures including angiography and intra-operative imaging. In 1980 he was accepted into an Ultrasound training Program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee , Wisconsin . It was here that he learned the fundamentals of Ultrasound Imaging, acoustical physics, instrumentation, Anatomy and Physiology. Following his Ultrasound training in Wisconsin , he returned to Colorado Springs and worked as an Ultrasound Technologist at Penrose Hospital . After just a few years he became the supervisor of the Ultrasound Departments of Penrose and Penrose Community Hospital . In addition to training new staff , Gary was an instructor for Ultrasound students from the University of Colorado Health Science Center. He continued in this role for the next 26 years, until he joined the surgical staff at Colorado Springs Surgical Associates in early 2007. He is registered in Radiology( ARRT) and Ultrasound ( ARDMS) and Vascular Technology (RVT) . He is credentialed in Abdominal, Vascular , Neuro, Breast, and OB- Gyn specialties. The Ultrasound and Vascular Lab at CSSA is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Labs. This accreditation is a rigorous process given only to labs that meet the highest standards of excellence in Non- Invasive Vascular Imaging.
